| The Centennial Committee will be selling lawn signs to celebrate the Borough's 100th anniversary. These will be double sided with above mottos (one on each side) and include the yard stakes. The cost will be one (1) for $6.00, two (2) or more $5.00 each. The order can be written in on the apparel form ; however, the lawn signs cannot be mailed. |

| The motto of the centennial is "NUANGOLA BOROUGH 100 YEARS --- PRESERVING THE PAST, PRESENT, FUTURE. The proclamation and citation was held on November 16th, the actual date the Borough was incorporated. Ceremony included the raising of centennial flag, ringing of the Nuangola school bell for the first time since the school was closed, proclamation, citation and resolution by local officials, Senator Lisa Baker and Representative Karen Boback. |

Nuangola Centennial Committee is planning the following activities in commemoration of milestone dates from the Borough's 100th anniversary Proclamation on November 16th 2008:- May 16th ,2009 - Dedication of new Bulletin Board by Nuangola Borough Council and installation of dedicated pavers from Centennial Committee in front of Christmas tree at 1:30 PM
- August 16th ,2009 - Nuangola Day.
In planning stages, a parade at 2 PM to mark 100 years of Borough Incorporation also in honor of Nuangola fire company 50th anniversary Activities approximately at 1 PM commencing at Municipal Building with dedications by Borough Association ,and dignitaries . Vendors , games , performances by groups , face paintings, etc. activities for all age categories.at Nuangola Grove and at Nuangola Recreational area.Any vendors or anyone interested in participating in parade please contact Shari Andes at 868-5808 since space is limited .Also anyone interested in helping out with children activities and or games please call and leave message at 868-5808.

| The first activity held in May of 2008, the presentation of the Historical plaque by Luzerne County Historical Society denoting the Borough as a historical site by Luzerne County, now adorns the front left side of the Borough Building as you approach the building. |

| A blue spruce Christmas tree has been planted on the lawn of the municipal building on October 15th. This tree was donated by Helen and Ed's tree farm. Ed is a grower/certified arborist who attended kindergarten in 1965 when the current Municipal Building was the Nuangola Public School. The Nuangola Centennial Committee will dedicate the tree to the Borough at the Proclamation Ceremonies as a present gesture for future generations to admire and decorate for the holidays. Christmas decorations were donated by A&R Hardware in Mountain Top and this tree will be adorned with lights. On May 16th, 2009, a plaque will be donated by the centennial committee to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Borough and placed in front of the tree. |

| A coloring Contest for Nuangola Youngster from the ages of 2 to 9. Coloring Books and Crayons are available at the Municipal Building. |

| Children aged 10 to 15 years old are asked to write an essay on Nuangola or about their connection to the Borough or on any other topic of interest to them. |

| Students who will be entering their Junior or Senior years in high school in 2009 are invited to write a letter of intent to serve with Council as a Junior Council person. |

| All selections on the above will be announced in August of 2009. |

| Residents are requested to take part in all for the centennial celebrations and activities. |

| Photos are being sought for the Centennial Booklet that will be published after the Closing Ceremony on November 15, 2009. |
